Company Visit to Beyond Now

On September 30^th, students of 4DHIF had the opportunity to visit Beyond Now GmbH in Raaba. After a short introduction into the company´s business and its work, we were split into small groups and rotated through four different stations, each focusing on a different aspect of the software development cycle.

The first station focused on Requirements Engineering, where we learned how customer needs are identified and turned into user stories. The second covered software development, including design and implementation, as well as general topics such as project management, what to expect as Junior Software Developers and how the future of software development might look like.

At the third station, we explored Software as Service and how cloud-based software can be configured and adapted to meet customer requirements. We also learned about deploying new versions without downtime, monitoring applications and using AI to analyze problems and automate processes.

The final station focused on documentation and customer support. We discussed different ways of communicating and sharing information, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. We also talked about how AI can support documentation by summarizing content and making information easier to access.

The visit gave us valuable insight into the everyday work of software developers and showed us how cloud computing and AI are shaping the future of software development. We finished with a shared lunch and the opportunity to reflect on what we had learned and talk with the Beyond Now team.
